Laser Skin Rejuvenation - The Skin You're In. January 2026

Amanda Hoffman, Medical Aesthetician • January 1, 2026

Happy New Year! It’s officially January 2026—can you believe it? If you’re anything like the patients walking through our doors at Williamson Cosmetic Center & Perenack Aesthetic Surgery, you’ve probably made a few resolutions. Maybe it’s health related, maybe it’s about getting organized, or maybe this is finally the year you decide to prioritize you.

January is one of my favorite months in the clinic. The holidays are behind us, everyone’s ready for a reset, and let’s be honest, our brief Louisiana winters can still leave skin looking a little tired, dry, and in need of some extra love. I’ve been an Aesthetician since 2008, and while trends come and go, one thing never changes: everyone wants healthy, glowing, youthful skin.

Right now, the buzzword you’re seeing everywhere is “skin quality.” It’s not just about softening a wrinkle with Botox (which we still love 😉), it’s about improving the canvas—texture, tone, clarity, and overall radiance. That’s why I’m kicking off our 2026 newsletter series with one of my favorite topics:

Laser Skin Rejuvenation

If you’ve been on the fence about laser treatments, consider this your sign—this is your year.

Why Laser?

Think of your skincare products as the homework I give you—they’re essential, but they can only go so deep. Laser treatments use targeted light energy to reach deeper layers of the skin, addressing pigment, redness, and collagen loss at the source.

The result? Your skin is prompted to heal itself by producing more collagen and elastin, the good stuff. Lasers can help:

  • Fade sun damage and brown spots (a must in the South)
  • Improve texture, tone, and pore size
  • Firm and tighten the skin
  • Minimize acne and surgical scars
  • Calm redness and rosacea

Laser FAQs

Is there only one kind of laser? Not even close. We use a range of lasers, from gentle, no downtime glow treatments to deeper resurfacing lasers like CO₂.

Does it hurt? Most modern lasers are very tolerable and include cooling technology. For deeper treatments, we use strong numbing creams, and sometimes oral medication, to keep you comfortable.

What about downtime? It depends on the laser. Some treatments leave you pink for an hour, while deeper resurfacing may require 5–10 days to fully heal.

Can darker skin tones be treated safely? Yes! Laser technology has come a long way. We have safe, effective options for melanated skin, which is why a proper consultation is essential.

How many treatments will I need? Deeper lasers usually require fewer treatments. Lighter lasers typically work best in a series of 3–5.

When will I see results? You may notice an immediate boost in brightness, but true collagen remodeling takes time. Optimal results typically develop over 3–6 months. Consistent use of high quality skincare helps support healing and prolong your results.

How long do results last? The improvements we make are long lasting, but aging is ongoing. Most patients choose maintenance every 12–18 months. We can’t freeze time, but we can age beautifully. As long as you’re happy with your skin, I’m happy too.

Can I do lasers in the summer? Yes, lasers can be done in summer, but only the right lasers, on the right skin, with the right expectations. A consultation is key.

Are lasers only for wrinkles? Not at all. Laser treatments are incredibly versatile and can address redness, broken capillaries, enlarged pores, scarring, and hyperpigmentation. We even offer laser hair reduction.

Lasers vs. chemical peels? They’re different tools. Often, the magic happens when we combine treatments.

Let’s Make 2026 Your Skin Year

After 18 years in aesthetics, I’ve learned that great skin isn’t about doing everything, it’s about doing the right things. I’m big on honesty, realistic expectations, and creating results that still look like you. I’ll always tell you what your skin needs and what it doesn’t, because trust matters here.

If 2026 is the year you’re ready to invest in brighter, firmer, healthier skin, I’d love to help. Let’s sit down, talk goals, and build a plan that fits your lifestyle, your comfort level, and your vision.

Here’s to a glowing year ahead!

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive medical procedure that uses controlled cooling to freeze and eliminate stubborn fat cells. It is designed for body contouring rather than weight loss, targeting localized fat deposits that have not responded to diet and exercise. How It Works The procedure is based on the scientific finding that fat cells are more sensitive to cold temperatures than surrounding skin, nerves, and muscle tissue. The Process : A specialized applicator suctions the skin and fat into a "cooling cup". Cell Death : The device cools the targeted fat cells to a temperature that causes them to crystallize and die (a process called apoptosis ). Elimination : Over several weeks to months, the body's immune and lymphatic systems naturally process and flush out these dead cells as waste. Key Details Target Areas : It is FDA-cleared for nine specific areas, including the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, bra fat, back fat, upper arms, and under the chin or jawline. Results : You can expect up to a 20% to 25% reduction in fat in the treated area after a single session. Initial changes may appear in three weeks, but full results typically take three to six months to become visible. Downtime : Since it is non-surgical and requires no anesthesia, there is usually zero downtime , allowing patients to return to normal activities immediately. Permanence : Once fat cells are destroyed and eliminated, they do not return . However, remaining fat cells in the body can still expand if you gain weight. Side Effects and Risks Common Side Effects : Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, skin sensitivity, and a pulling or pinching sensation during the procedure. Rare Risk (PAH) : A rare but serious side effect is Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH) , where the treated fat area actually grows larger and hardens rather than shrinking. Estimates suggest this occurs in less than 1% of treatments. Candidates The ideal candidate is someone within 10 to 30 pounds of their goal weight with "pinchable" fat. It is not suitable for individuals with obesity or certain cold-related conditions like Raynaud's disease or cryoglobulinemia.
