The Procedure
Neck rejuvenation procedures are generally performed to address loose skin, excess fat, and muscle laxity in the neck and jawline. The Structural Neck Lift addresses excess fat and deep fat of the neck, deeper glandular structures such as the submandibular glands and typically tightens skin and muscle. For younger patients with deeper fat/glandular structures of the midline neck this can be achieved through a single incision under the chin. For patients who also have loose neck skin often there are incisions placed behind the ear that allows for superior skin tightening. Your procedure will be performed in our AAAA-SF-accredited outpatient surgical facility and may be combined with other treatments to achieve optimal results.

Submental fullness: Neck liposuction can be performed through small incisions hidden behind the ears and under the chin to remove excess fat and create a more defined neck contour.

How is Neck Lift Surgery Performed?
The Structural Necklift is done through a midline incision under the chin. After contouring of deeper structures (deep fat pads, submandibular glands, digastric muscles) the platysma is tightened, and superfical fat is contoured. Occasionally, incisions are made behind the ear to allow lateral tightening of the platysma and superior skin tightening. The incisions are then closed using fine sutures and clips. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2 hours.
What is Neck Lift Recovery Like?
Following a neck lift, you will experience some bruising and swelling for several days. Mild discomfort is usually easily controlled with medication. Keeping your head elevated and applying cold compresses for a day or two will keep swelling to a minimum. The scar is well hidden in behind the ear in the natural skin fold and is relatively inconspicuous. Most people can return to work after a week.
