Filler Up with Juvederm, January 2026
Happy New Year, Gonzales! As we step into 2026, many of us are looking at the calendar with a sense of renewal. Here at the Gonzales office of Williamson Cosmetic Center & Perenack Aesthetic Surgery, January is always one of my favorite months. It’s a time for "refreshing"—not just our goals and habits, but the way we feel when we look in the mirror.

In this first edition of my new blog series, Filler Up, I want to dive deep into one of the most versatile and beloved tools in my aesthetic toolkit: Juvederm. Whether you are a regular in my chair or you’ve been "filler-curious" for years, this guide is for you.
Why We Love Juvederm
Juvederm is a collection of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. Because HA is a naturally occurring substance in our skin that delivers nutrients and helps keep it plump and hydrated, these injectables offer a remarkably natural look and feel. From adding volume to the cheeks to smoothing out "parentheses lines" or giving the lips a soft pout, Juvederm allows me to "sculpt" with precision.
The Power of Reputation: Learning from the Best
Before we get into the FAQs, I have to mention how proud I am to be part of this team. One of the greatest assets of the Williamson Cosmetic Center is our collective experience. When you come to see me in Gonzales, you aren't just getting my hands; you’re getting the benefit of a practice built on decades of elite experience and our gold-standard approach to patient care.
Top 10 Questions Patients Ask About Juvederm
1. What exactly is Juvederm? It’s a smooth-consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid. It’s used to restore volume lost to aging or to enhance features that need a little extra definition.
2.What areas can be treated with Juvederm? Common areas I treat include lips, cheeks, nasolabial folds, better known as laugh lines, lines around the mouth, the jawline and chin.
3. How long does it last? Depending on which product in the Juvederm family we use and the area treated, results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
4. Does the injection hurt? We prioritize your comfort! Most Juvederm formulations contain lidocaine (a numbing agent). We also use topical numbing creams and very fine needles to make the experience as painless as possible.
5. Will I look "fake" or "overfilled"? This is the most common fear! My goal—and the Williamson philosophy—is always "natural first." We want people to notice you look rested and refreshed, not that you "had work done."
6. Is Juvederm safe? Yes. Juvederm is FDA approved and has been used safely for many years when injected by a trained, experienced provider.
7. What is the difference between the different types of Juvederm? Think of them as different "weights" of gel. Voluma is sturdy for lifting cheeks; Volbella is thin and soft for delicate lip lines; Ultra XC is great for lip plumping.
8. How many syringes will I need? The honest answer: it depends on your facial anatomy, skin quality, and your personal goals. During your consultation, I’ll create a customized plan, often staged over time to keep results natural and manageable. Using the right amount in the right places creates balance and structure.
9. How soon will I see results? Instantly! You will walk out of the office seeing the change, though the "final" look settles in after about two weeks once any swelling subsides.
10. Why should I come to Williamson Cosmetic Center in Gonzales? Because at Williamson we combine science, safety, and artistry to deliver results you can trust. Our philosophy is simple: you should look refreshed, feel confident, and like the best version of yourself.
Post-Procedure: What to Expect
One of the best things about Juvederm is that there is virtually no "downtime," but there is a "healing time."
- Swelling and Bruising: This is normal! I tell all my patients to plan for at least 3-5 days of potential swelling and/or bruising. If you have a big event (like a wedding or a gala), I recommend coming to see me at least 2-3 weeks prior.
- The "No" List: For the first 24 hours, avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat (like saunas), and alcohol, as these can increase swelling and bruising.
- Ice is Your Friend: Applying a cold compress intermittently for the first day helps keep swelling down significantly.
