Summer is right around the corner and it is time to treat those sweaty armpits!
Did you know that severe underarm sweating called hyperhidrosis can be treated with Botox Cosmetics? When topical medications / deodorants are not doing the trick or the skin irritation that these topical medications cause is too much, Botox is your answer. The Williamson Cosmetic Center in Baton Rouge and Gonzales has been treating hyperhidrosis with Botox for many years. We have experience targeting the proper sweat glands and we have seen one treatment of Botox to the underarms last up to 6 to 7 months, sometimes even longer.
How does it work? Botox works to treat excessive sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate your sweat glands. This stops the symptom of excessive sweating in the area that is treated, commonly the underarms. This will not cause sweat to be backed up in your body. The sweat will simply never be produced by the sweat glands in the area that is treated. The rest of your body will perspire as normal. Botox is not a cure for hyperhidrosis, you will gradually start to experience your symptoms again and you will know when it is time for another treatment.
Excessive sweating can not only disrupt your normal daily routines and activities but it can cause anxiety and embarrassment as well. We are happy to help our clients overcome hyperhidrosis so they can enjoy all of life’s events.
Call either our Baton Rouge or Gonzales clinics to schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our providers to learn more about the treatment, answer all of your questions and to get started treating today!
