Overly large lips can be corrected with a lip reduction. The procedure is done under local or general anesthesia and takes 30 minutes to an hour. An incision the length of the lip is placed on the inside of the mouth and excess tissue is removed. In some cases it is necessary to place the incision at the border of the lip.
There is minimal down time associated with this procedure.
What are potential side effects?
Swelling, tingling, and moderate pain are common but subside in approximately 1-2 weeks. Infections can occur but with proper post operative care are unlikely to occur.
